Here's my let's play of your game cerealwaterfork!

Overall really fun game, getting new hearts and souls from monsters was a great gameplay loop, it made you wanna progress to see what new party members/hearts/souls and new moves you'd get from each new area.  Also the difficulty was just right, quite difficult, but not impossible!  Also the story was interesting too, and I quite liked how it was just in the background and not the main focus.

Probably the only problems with the game was levelling up. I loathed levelling up. I'm guessing it was a restriction of VX Ace you made it in, going through the level up menu each time was a major pain in the butt.

Also the way you get the syringe is a bit whack as well, probably should put it in the first room instead...

Otherwise, fantastic game! Good job!

Thanks for playing. I think this is the best in the series as well, glad you enjoyed it.

The final boss fight wasn't supposed to be that hard, there are multiple ways to deal with the boss's seemingly unfair attacks. Crown of Thorns reflects all physical damage, and you can also deal with the telegraphed attacks by guarding and lowering the boss's ATK. There's also other defensive options like Shield of Valor, Hexproof Chant, etc. Also there are items to buff or debuff units if you don't have access to buff or debuff skills for some reason.

This is actually RPG Maker MZ. I could have used the leveling plugin but for some reason I thought I didn't need it. I should have used it after all. I didn't think it was too annoying because I didn't use the knife that often

How to get more party members? I did all the game with only human :(

There's an item you can find north of the first level which converts enemy's hearts into the enemy itself.

A really fun & classic game! Its your typical rpg maker game reminiscent of early 2000s dungeon crawlers. Nothing groundbreaking but why would it need to be groundbreaking  when its fun? Been playing for a bit and I've been really invested in the story and will play the first game in the series soon (stumbled upon this one first lol) as well. Good job, dev!

Thanks for playing. I actually have never played 2000s dungeon crawlers, except for SMT which was the game's main inspiration mechanically. How was the difficulty by the way? I hope the boss fights were balanced.

The difficulty was totally good! Like its mentioned in the game's page, it can be very hard in the beginning when you havent leveled up yet, but once youre in the swing of things it goes rather smoothly. The boss fights were balanced & fair too, but not too easy so it wasnt boring at all.
